Black Visual Archive

An online journal for contemporary black visual culture
Branding, Print and Website

Black Visual Archive is a collection of critical writings dedicated to the documentation and review of contemporary black and post-black visual culture.

Receiving increasing recognition for its written content, Black Visual Archive approached us to develop a visual identity and online presence which would better represent its current position. We focused on developing a website which would serve the content and its reader, reducing the structure to its essential archival form—encouraging a navigation of content which adhered to the linear nature of its publishing, while providing a secondary chronological index. The visual identity, comfortably influenced by the good taste of BVA’s founder employs a minimalist use of typography and graphic accompaniment.
